Target Group

This course is targeted at multi-agency child protection professionals and should to be attended by Paediatricians, including Consultants and trainees, West Midlands Police Senior Investigating Officers, Senior Managers in children’s services and Senior Nursing staff. 

 

Aim

To raise awareness, increase knowledge and confidence of safeguarding children and organisational responsibilities in relation to fabricated and induced illness (FII). 

This course will also enable participants to understand and recognise how multi-agency professionals should respond to cases where there are concerns there is fabrication or induced illness.

 

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the session delegates will:

  • Understand what is meant by FII and ways in which symptoms present to professionals and others
  • Be aware of the ways in which FII could present within their work setting
  • Know how to respond to suspected cases of possible FII and how multi-agency investigations are conducted to treat and protect a child
